About us

Find joy in togetherness,
wilderness and activeness

In the winter of 2020 Rovaniemi based Inga-Maria and Tuomas Kylmäluoma decided to freeze an ice skating rink in the middle of a forest. This is how the idea for Kotatieva started brewing. This frozen trail, curving among frosty, snowy trees begun to arouse the attention of locals thus bringing many Finns to visit this curious Kotatieva. A haven away from the light pollution and the noise of the town, yet only 10 kilometres drive away from Rovaniemi centre, we at Kotatieva warmly welcome everyone to enjoy a traditional winter day with us!

Kotatieva has now grown into a fine young winter park where all of our guests are offered various traditional and fresh new winter activities to try out. We wish to offer you a place where you can spend time together with your loved ones and have a great time while enjoying winter fun. Respecting the nature is a very important value to us as we have built Kotatieva as ecological as possible and all activities we offer are nature-friendly. By opening Kotatieva with all its services we can offer our guests an authentic experience of Lapland’s nature, winter and quietness.

Doing things together, creating joy, and offering various ways to enjoy outdoors, are important values to us. We aim to develop Kotatieva based on these values both responsibly and with care.

With warmth from the land of ice and snow

We wish to offer our guests a pleasant winter day filled with good vibes, a day that will leave you with a whole bunch of memories to make you smile and cheeks red as tomatoes! We welcome you with uttermost enthusiasm! Should you have any questions or feedback to give us, you can find our contact information from here.

Ice skating under
the amazing auroras

During Aurora Ice Skating you can gaze into the sky searching for the breathtakingly beautiful Aurora Borealis with your own small private group in Kotatieva. In the dark nature of Lapland far from the light pollution our guests can ice skate their way to watch the beautiful starlit sky and moonlight, and if the conditions happen to be right, the magical northern lights.

Activities of the wintry
forest for all ages

Our unique, almost 1000 metres long ice skating track itself is worth experiencing! Naturally the ice skating track is not the only activity we offer as we have a variety of different winter activities. You can try out snow shoe disc golf, cross-country skiing, ice bowling and of course some good old fashioned sled sliding. Since everyone needs a little break from serious fun we have a warm and cozy Laplander’s hut where our guests can warm up at fireplace and enjoy food from our restaurant. A café with a variety of products also exists in the area.
