Kotatieva is home to the first and original forest skating experience in Lapland. Our natural ice trail winds between the trees, surrounded by the quiet of the Arctic forest.

Follow the ice trail through the Arctic forest. Try snowshoes, cross-country skis or the sledding hill. Meet our reindeer, warm up by the fire and head out again when you’re ready.

Equipment for park activities is included with the relevant day ticket. Come with family, friends or just a little curiosity.

We’ve just returned from a 5-day family trip to Lapland staying at Kotatieva, and it honestly exceeded all expectations.
From the moment we arrived, everything felt relaxed and welcoming. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature, which made it feel like a true escape while still being close to Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village.
There was so much for the kids to do right on site, which we loved. Sledding was a massive hit, and they also really enjoyed the ice hockey, disc golf, snowshoe walk, and even feeding the reindeer. It meant we didn’t have to constantly travel for activities.
The staff were fantastic—friendly and helpful—but what we really appreciated was the “hands-off” approach. You’re given space to enjoy everything at your own pace, which made the whole experience feel very relaxed and personal.
A real highlight was our private family hot tub and sauna experience. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights that night, which made it incredibly special—definitely my personal favourite moment of the trip.
To top it all off, we had a private family dinner on our final night with amazing local produce. It was such a cosy and memorable way to finish our holiday.
We visited during an unusually warm spell (around 4–6°C), which meant there was less snow in some areas, but Kotatieva still had plenty, and the weather was actually very comfortable for the kids—only needing a couple of layers most of the time.
If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, authentic, and family-friendly, I would highly recommend Kotatieva. It made our Lapland trip truly unforgettable.

Wir sind zum Schlittschuhfahren in das Resort gefahren. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und die Bahn größtenteils gut befahrbar. Auch das anschließende Schlittenfahren auf den Rutschmatten war für kleine Reisegruppen ideal.

spent like 3,5 hours in there ! So many fun activities to do for such good money value. The cheapest reindeer ride of all Rovaniemi I feel. The free shuttle is also very convenient, the only downside might just be the food price but other than that, I definitely recommend :)

Sehr schöne Anlage. Wir konnten unbeschwert durch den verschneiten Wald auf Schlittschuhen laufen und mit Matten oder Schlitten fahren. Es gibt ein kleines Café an der Eisbahn um sich aufzuwärmen und eine heiße Schokolade zu trinken. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und die ganze Anlage ist sehr schön gestaltet.
